Supporting MusicHelps
and keeping Kiwi music alive.

COVID lockdowns hit many people, hard – it was really tough for the whole events community. The impact of not being able to do work and share our passion involves more than just money, but sense of self-worth as well as mental and physical well being. MusicHelps makes a world of difference to those who faced and are facing these real issues by providing tangible support to the industry. When our industry needed them most, we played a part in making sure they had and continue to have the resource required to meet this need.

Industry supporting the industry, as a music community we realised we could help each other. We needed to create opportunities within a new landscape to eke out a living and Money for Jam helped to address this. More than the income, however, was the benefit of being productive again – not only for the short-term gain of feeling better about yourself, but also ensuring that when the industry returned to large scale live events, we were all match-fit and ready to go.

MusicHelps is a unique kiwi charity that provides tailored online, on the phone and in person professional counselling support free of charge to New Zealanders earning their living through music who experiencing distress and wellbeing issues along with emergency financial assistance packages for music workers who are suffering with illness, injury and hardship.
